-=hakware lin em dist=--=hakware lin em dist=-

welcome to the hakware lin em distribution web page. hakware lin em is an operating system written by me (unknown user). i'm now trying to distribute it. you can get a copy free (same version, just not a hard copy. NOT A TRIAL), or you can ask for a cd or floppy.

the history of hakware

hakware started out as a linux emulator (and still is). i wrote it because i was just discovering linux, and i had a laptop that i couldn't put linux on (it had no cd-rom drive and i couldn't get the floppy dist.) and so i decided to write linux onto it. this is a very simple emulator for dos or windows written in Microsoft QBasic. it emulates the most basic parts of the BASH shell and linux kernel. and it makes a pretty damn cool toy. it has a built-in text editor (not very good, but it works to some degree. what did you expect?) and an online user's manual. i used to have a download page, but it went down when i stopped updating it. update: i'm getting qbasic 7.1 so i can make it into an exe. i'll also eventually make an optional bootloader, or get one off the net, that'll run it as the primary os. hak happy:) update: i made the exe and am using it for my primary os on one of my computers. i'm including command line utilities and i'm also going to list some gui utilities that were very helpful, such as HyperLex and VPaint.

legal crap

this program is written under the GNU GPL set down by the Free Software Foundation. it is a toy and is not meant to be very useful otherwise. it is distributed in the hopes that it will be fun but with NO GARUNTEES, made or implied.

how to get it

to get a free copy, shift-click on this link. to get a hard copy, e-mail me at orders@hakware.cjb.net and specipy cd-rom or floppy, and include your mailing address. then send a few dollars, i don't care how much, (a post card might be nice) but just enough to pay for the disk, to
